Physical Description

Appearance
Seylah is a small, striking child whose Shadowtitan heritage presents identically to her twin's at a glance: the same soft lavender skin, the same white hair, the same fine silver freckle-like markings across her cheeks. Look longer and the differences emerge. Where Celeste tends toward quiet stillness, Seylah is in motion, hands occupied, posture forward, engaged with whatever project currently has her attention. She wears her hair up in a high ponytail, which she prefers to anything elaborate, and she gravitates almost exclusively toward black, which she has had strong opinions about since before she had the words to express them. She is usually either building something, dismantling something, or deciding which of those to do next.

Unique Characteristics
Her pointed ears are expressive and tend to flatten slightly when she is frustrated, which provides a useful early warning to anyone paying attention. She has her father's directness in her face: when something is wrong, you will know immediately, and she does not consider this a problem. She is working on patience, in the way that three-year-olds work on patience, which is to say she is aware it is a thing people seem to want from her and she is making occasional attempts. The silver freckle markings on her cheeks are identical to Celeste's and brighten faintly in the same circumstances, though Seylah has not noticed this and would likely find it irritating if she did, since she prefers to be clearly distinguishable from her twin.

Personality

Positive Traits
  • Determined and focused once she has decided on a task
  • Physically active and genuinely enjoys building things
  • Honest in a way that is entirely unfiltered and usually accurate
  • Protective of Celeste in the straightforward way of a child who considers it obvious
  • Recovers quickly from upsets when given space to do so
Challenging Traits
  • Short-tempered when interrupted mid-project, which is frequently
  • Expresses frustration loudly and without much preamble
  • Has strong opinions about how things should be done and limited patience for alternatives
  • Tries to keep calm, as her mother does, and achieves this with variable success
  • Does not accept that someone else's way might also be correct

"No. I do it." [said to anyone who reaches toward whatever she is working on, regardless of whether help was requested]

"Celeste took my block." [said with the gravity of someone reporting a significant injustice; Celeste did not take her block]

[A long pause, visibly working on calm, followed by:] "...okay. Fine." [said to someone who has moved one of her blocks slightly to the left]

Likes
  • Building blocks, and the structures she makes with them, which are correct
  • Black clothing, which she selects with conviction
  • Celeste, whom she would defend with her life and also blame for things occasionally
  • Being allowed to finish something before being asked to do something else
  • Her father, whose directness she recognises and finds reassuring
Dislikes
  • Being interrupted during a build before she has declared it finished
  • Anyone touching her things without asking, including Celeste, especially Celeste
  • Being told to calm down, which has the opposite of the intended effect
  • Loud sudden noises that knock her concentration loose
  • Being compared directly to her twin, which she finds reductive

Background & History

Twin Birth
Seylah was born the second of the twins to Arties and Xaneborr, moments after Celeste. From the beginning she was the louder of the two, the quicker to express a preference, and the one more likely to make it known immediately when something was not to her satisfaction. This was noted with affection by her parents and accepted as simply who she was from very early on.

Her Father's Daughter
As Seylah has grown, it has become clear that she carries her father's temperament more directly than her mother's. Xaneborr is a direct, decisive person who knows what he wants and moves toward it without much patience for delay or detour. Seylah is three years old and already demonstrating the same basic orientation. She is also watching her mother carefully, because Arties handles the world with a composure Seylah finds genuinely admirable and is attempting, in her three-year-old way, to replicate. The attempts are improving. The starting point was low.

Life With Celeste
Seylah and Celeste are not identical in temperament, which both of them are aware of and neither of them minds particularly. Celeste is still and quiet and reads things. Seylah builds things and fixes things and occasionally dismantles things to see how they work. They are the fixed point in each other's lives regardless, and Seylah's protective instinct toward her twin is genuine and constant, even when she is also in a dispute with her about a block. These two things coexist without difficulty. She has pushed other children away from Celeste before they understood what was happening. She would do it again without hesitation.

Growing Up Geodegazer
Seylah has a large household of siblings at various ages and stages, and she has developed clear opinions about all of them. She likes people who are direct and do what they say. She has less patience for complicated emotional situations, which she finds confusing and which she handles by going back to her blocks until things settle. The family has largely learned to give her space when she is working on something and to ask before touching anything in her vicinity, which has reduced incidents considerably.

Goals

To Finish the Tower
There is always a tower. The specific one changes, but the goal is constant: she has a vision of what it should look like when it is done, and she is going to get it there, and anyone who wants to participate is welcome to follow her instructions precisely. The tower is the current one, but what it represents is something larger: the satisfaction of making a thing that was not there before, of seeing a plan through from start to finish without interference. She is three years old. She is already learning what it feels like to finish something.

Working on the Calm
Seylah has been told, by her mother primarily and by the general atmosphere of people reacting to her, that her first response to frustration could benefit from some adjustment. She is working on this. She does not find it easy. She has managed, on several recent occasions, to pause before reacting, which those around her have received with a warmth that she finds encouraging. She is trying. The trying is real, even when the results are inconsistent.

Being Different From Celeste
Seylah loves her twin completely and does not want to be her. She is developing a strong sense of her own identity, her own preferences, her own ways of doing things, and she notices when people treat her and Celeste as interchangeable. She does not say much about this yet, but it matters to her. She is Seylah. Celeste is Celeste. She wears black. She builds things. These distinctions are important and she intends to keep making them clear.

🧱 Temperament Notice
Seylah is a warm, determined, and actively developing three-year-old with a short fuse inherited from her father and a genuine desire to manage it inherited from her mother. She is working on patience with real effort and intermittent success. She is protective of her twin and distinguishes herself from Celeste with considerable intention. Those interacting with her are advised not to touch her current project without asking, not to move blocks without warning, and not to use the phrase "calm down," which does not help. She responds well to being taken seriously and to being given time to finish things.
