Sunniva Emberlight
Basic Information
Bloodline Ability
This Bloodline ability has not yet been unveiled to you.
Physical Description
Sunniva is nearly two years old and looks almost precisely like someone distilled Hotaru's most vivid features into a small, round-faced child and then turned the warmth up. Her hair is a brilliant, deep copper-orange, the exact shade of her father's, grown out into long soft waves that fall past her shoulders and catch every available light source as though they have a personal arrangement with it. Her eyes are the feature that makes people stop: a vivid amber-orange, genuinely luminous in the way that suggests something celestial at work underneath the surface, wide and bright and entirely focused on whatever currently has her attention, which is usually something edible. A small point of light sits at the center of her brow, subtle enough to miss in daylight and unmistakable in dim rooms, the particular mark of her aasimar heritage expressing itself in the most Sunny possible way: like a small sun has taken up residence just above her nose. She wears an orange sundress embroidered with sun motifs along the collar and hem, which her father chose and which she has accepted as entirely correct. She is currently holding a strip of bacon in both hands and eating it with the focused reverence of someone who has found their purpose.
The fireflies still come. They found Hotaru on the island where he grew up and they have followed him through every life since, and now they find Sunny too, drifting near her in the evenings with a gentle hovering attention that is different from how they move around other people. She watches them with the specific calm of someone who has always known they would be there. The small wildflowers that bloomed in her sleep as a newborn are still appearing, mostly in the mornings near wherever she slept, mostly tiny and yellow. The brow-light is the newest development and the household has stopped reacting to it, because it dims when she is calm and brightens when she is excited and it would be exhausting to track every time she encounters bacon. Her father's celestial nature is in her. It is simply taking its time announcing what it intends to become.
Personality
- Warmth that fills a room without effort or awareness that it is doing so
- Approaches everyone with the open trust of someone who has only ever been loved
- Infectious delight in small things, especially food-related ones
- Utterly untroubled by the extraordinary, which she treats as entirely normal
- Adores Lio with a completeness that is mutual and visible across a room
- Has already accepted Esyrx as Mama without any apparent deliberation
- The word "no" registers as a starting position for negotiation
- Her volume settings do not include anything below enthusiastic
- Nap time is an ongoing philosophical disagreement she has not conceded
- Once she has decided something is hers, diplomatic solutions are limited
- Will share bacon with Papa and approximately no one else
[Holds up bacon strip toward Papa first. Waits. He takes a bite. She then takes three bites in quick succession and considers this a fair arrangement.]
Mama! [Said to Esyrx, who blinked very quickly and then had to look at the ceiling for a moment.]
[Presents a firefly to Lio with tremendous seriousness. It sits in her cupped hands, perfectly calm. This is not the first time. Lio receives it with matching seriousness. This is the correct response.]
- Bacon, specifically, earnestly, and with great conviction
- Papa, who introduced her to bacon and is therefore beloved above most things
- Mama Esyrx, whose pink is warm and whose arms are exactly the right size
- Lio, who she follows everywhere and who never gets tired of her
- The fireflies, which are simply part of her world and always have been
- Being outside in sunlight, which makes her brow-light invisible and makes her very happy
- When the bacon is gone and there is not more bacon
- Being inside when the fireflies are outside
- Loud sudden noises that are not her own
- Naps, in principle, always, forever
- When Lio leaves without her, which she considers an oversight
