Physical Description
Samael is a tall man whose salt-and-pepper hair speaks to the wisdom earned through years of both study and hardship, though the silver threads seem to have multiplied during the difficult years following his crisis of faith. He typically sports a slight beard of the same mixed colors when he can maintain it, giving him the appearance of a scholarly craftsman rather than the priest he once was. His soft blue-gray eyes convey a tender and kind spirit that somehow survived intact despite everything he has endured, radiating genuine compassion for those who struggle with their own demons. He dresses practically now in the simple work clothes of an alchemist, often bearing stains from his experiments, though he still carries himself with the quiet dignity of someone accustomed to offering comfort and counsel to others.
Samael's eyebrows are remarkably animated, rising and falling constantly when he talks with people, a quirk that makes him extremely expressive even when his words are measured and careful. His hands bear the marks of both his past and present: calluses from his youth as a fisherman's son, old scars from years of service in Hedgewick, and fresh chemical burns and stains from his alchemical work. He moves with a slight heaviness that wasn't there in his younger years, the physical manifestation of carrying the weight of faith lost and purpose rediscovered. Around his neck, he no longer wears the holy symbol of the Dusk Lord, having replaced it with a simple leather cord holding a small vial of glowing liquid, his first successful alchemical creation and a symbol of his new path forward.

I've given up religion. It's terrible what some people will do in the name of some being they've never seen.
I prayed for answers and received silence. Now I create solutions with my own hands, and they actually work.
Faith may comfort the soul, but alchemy heals the body. I choose what I can measure and prove.
