Physical Description

Appearance
Thesskai possesses the refined beauty typical of the Ssi'Thesska, with smooth bronze skin marked by subtle scale patterns that catch the light like living jewelry. Her serpentine eyes shift between deep amber and brilliant gold depending on her mood, and her long black hair is often adorned with small bone trinkets and feathers that mark her status in Ssi'thesskan society. She moves with fluid grace, every gesture deliberate and purposeful, embodying both the predatory elegance of her serpentine heritage and the diplomatic poise required for her role.

Unique Characteristics
The most striking aspect of Thesskai's appearance is the intricate scarification that covers her shoulders and upper arms, depicting scenes from Kal'Rexpan's mythology in raised, ritual scars that she wears as badges of honor. Her forked tongue, more pronounced than most purebloods, allows her to "taste" emotions and intentions with supernatural accuracy. She carries a staff carved from Verdant Expanse heartwood, topped with a crystal that supposedly contains a fragment of Kal'Rexpan's essence.

The great Kal'Rexpan teaches us that even the mightiest predator must know when to hunt and when to wait, when to show fangs and when to offer shelter. In this strange sky-realm, I am both serpent and dove.

My people survived for generations by understanding when to strike and when to fade into the jungle. Diplomacy is no different.

I taste your intentions on the air, sky-walker. Do not think you can deceive one who speaks with a serpent's tongue.

Background & History

Early Life in Ssi'thesska
Born during a rare celestial alignment when all three moons hung visible in the jungle sky, Thesskai was marked from birth as one touched by both earthly and heavenly powers. As a pureblood in a society that typically revered the more serpentine forms, she faced unique challenges that shaped her into an exceptional diplomat and observer. Rather than following the traditional paths of warrior or priest, she showed an early aptitude for understanding the complex social dynamics both within her tribe and in the rare encounters with outsiders.

The Oracle's Awakening
At the age of sixteen, during the sacred Scale Shedding ceremony, Thesskai experienced a powerful vision that would define her future role. She saw great sky-dwelling creatures arriving in the Verdant Expanse, bringing both opportunity and change to her people. The vision showed her standing between two worlds, speaking words that would preserve the ancient ways while embracing necessary evolution. Ssi-Katha immediately recognized this as a divine calling and began training Thesskai in both the mystical arts and the subtle skills of negotiation.

The Sky-Walker Encounters
When the adventurers from Goodberry first arrived in the Verdant Expanse, Thesskai was among the first to make contact, serving as a translator and cultural bridge between the two vastly different societies. Her ability to quickly learn their language and customs, combined with her natural diplomatic instincts, made her invaluable in establishing the initial peaceful relations. She spent countless hours learning about their sky-realm, their customs, and their needs, gradually building the trust that would lead to the formal alliance.

The Ambassador's Selection
When Queen Arties formally requested a permanent representative from Ssi'thesska, the choice was unanimous among the tribal leadership. Thesskai had demonstrated not only her diplomatic skills but also her ability to maintain her tribal identity while adapting to foreign customs. Ssi-Katha performed a special ritual blessing, investing Thesskai with the authority to speak for the tribe in all matters concerning their sky-dwelling allies, while also tasking her with ensuring that Ssi'thesskan interests and traditions remained protected.

War & Peace
Thesskai had not been an ambassador long before war broke out between the Southern Coalition and the Chromatic Council. The day before the Council marched on Verdant Hold, Xaneborr visited Thesskai in her home in Ssi'Kor and requested that his daughters be left in her care for the battle. It was his belief that if Goodberry was going to fall, the attackers would not think to look to the Vishkanya within for his family. She agreed without question and when the Draconians broke through into Goodberry, they did not find the princesses. Several months after the battle of Verdant Hold, where the Souther Coalition arose as the victor, Thesskai gave birth to her first son, Ma'Shrai, on Goldenleaf 11 of 1304. Her new mate, a soldier from the Green Draconian Legion forces of Goodberry, opted to stay with her and leave the army. Tronnisar, a reputable spear fighter, married her and settled a household together in Ssi'Kor.

Goals

Protecting Tribal Autonomy
Thesskai's primary goal is to ensure that the alliance with Goodberry strengthens rather than diminishes Ssi'thesskan culture and independence. She works constantly to maintain the delicate balance between beneficial cooperation and cultural preservation, ensuring that her people gain access to sky-realm knowledge and resources without losing their essential identity or becoming dependent on foreign assistance.

Building Mutual Understanding
Beyond mere political alliance, Thesskai dreams of creating genuine understanding and respect between the two cultures. She believes that both societies have valuable knowledge to share, with Goodberry offering technological and magical innovations while Ssi'thesska provides ancient wisdom and environmental expertise. Her vision is of a partnership where both cultures evolve and strengthen through peaceful exchange.

Fulfilling Prophetic Destiny
Thesskai believes that her role as ambassador is part of a larger prophetic pattern revealed in her oracle visions. She sees herself as instrumental in preparing both societies for future challenges that will require their combined strengths. While the exact nature of these challenges remains unclear, her visions suggest that the alliance she helps build will be crucial for facing threats that neither society could handle alone.
