Ring X'alon'Marr
Basic Information
Bloodline Ability
Ring can present a false emotional and motivational surface to any creature attempting to read her intent, whether through magic, instinct, or trained observation. This is not an active ability she consciously triggers. It is simply always on, a permanent Mist Chimera fog sitting between what she actually is and what anyone observing her perceives. Magical attempts to detect her alignment, read her emotions, or divine her true intentions through spells or bloodline abilities must beat a Will DC of 10 plus half her level plus her Charisma modifier or return whatever result she has decided they should return. She may choose this result as a free action when she becomes aware an attempt is being made, or she may set a default impression in advance that operates automatically. Creatures relying on trained instinct rather than magic, such as other intelligence professionals or experienced negotiators, receive the same false impression without any save at all, since the bloodline operates at a level below conscious tell. As a secondary expression, once per day she may extend this quality outward to a willing creature she is touching, granting them the same false surface for up to one hour. Ring spent years using her understanding of psychological profiles to dismantle cities from the inside. The irony she has lived with since defecting is that the bloodline making her exceptional at that work also made it almost impossible for anyone, including Arties, to ever be fully certain she was telling the truth. She has never used it against Goodberry. She also understands completely why that assurance, coming from her, means almost nothing.
Physical Description
Ring possesses sleek blue scales that shimmer with an almost metallic quality, catching light in ways that suggest both beauty and the cold precision of her analytical mind. Her bearing is elegant and refined rather than martial, moving with graceful economy that speaks of diplomatic training and countless hours spent in council chambers rather than on battlefields. Standing at six feet two inches, she carries herself with quiet confidence that comes not from physical dominance but from intellectual superiority and years of navigating complex political landscapes. Her eyes hold a sharp, analytical quality that seems to catalog and assess everything they observe, though motherhood has begun to soften their edges with moments of unguarded warmth that would have been unthinkable during her military service.
A series of intricate silver markings run along Ring's neck and shoulders, denoting her former rank as a diplomatic advisor in Casey's Blue Dragon Legion. These marks, which once filled her with pride, now serve as a permanent reminder of the role she played in campaigns she has come to deeply regret. She has considered having them removed or altered but ultimately decided to keep them as a reminder of the past she must atone for. When deep in thought or strategizing, she unconsciously arranges nearby objects into perfect geometric patterns, a habit developed during her years of military planning. Her hands, despite their elegant appearance, show subtle signs of her new life; small calluses from holding her infant son and minor scratches from the domestic activities she never imagined herself performing. She speaks in carefully measured tones regardless of her emotional state, a professional habit that sometimes makes it difficult for others to read her true feelings.
