Description

The Primal Tide Force represents the ultimate expression of oceanic magic, a direct connection to the raw creative and destructive power that shaped the world's coastlines over millions of years. This power is channeled through a nexus point where ley lines of water magic converge, marked by a towering spiral of living coral that grows and shifts with the tides. The coral formation pulses with visible energy, its colors cycling through every shade of blue and green as power flows through its crystalline structure.

Those trained to wield the Primal Tide Force can accomplish feats that blur the line between magic and miracle. They can raise islands from the seafloor or sink them beneath the waves. They can create permanent currents that flow against natural patterns or calm waters that should be storm-tossed. They can even manipulate the fundamental properties of water itself, creating ice in tropical heat or steam in arctic cold, shaping liquid into solid forms that persist indefinitely.

The power requires careful handling, for the primal forces of the ocean are not meant to be controlled by mortal minds. Overuse causes the wielder to lose themselves in the vast consciousness of the sea, their individual identity dissolving into the endless rhythm of the tides. The settlement's tide-shapers work in carefully limited sessions, always with observers ready to pull them back if they begin to lose themselves in the oceanic vastness.

The nexus also serves as a defensive weapon of last resort. If the settlement faces destruction, the accumulated power can be released in a single catastrophic surge, creating a tsunami capable of destroying any fleet or washing away any army. This option has never been used, and the elders pray it never will be, for such a release would exhaust the nexus for a generation and might permanently damage the dimensional fabric of the Tidal Expanse itself.

Benefits

The settlement gains the ability to permanently modify its geography, creating or removing land masses up to 1 acre per month. Water-based spells cast within the settlement are automatically maximized. Once per week, a trained tide-shaper can cast any spell with the water descriptor of 6th level or lower as a spell-like ability. As a last resort, the nexus can generate a tsunami dealing 20d6 damage to all creatures and structures within 1 mile (Reflex DC 25 half), usable once per decade. +8 Prestige.
