The leviathan does not dwell within the Tidal Expanse itself; its bulk would displace the waters entirely. Instead, Te Taniwha Nui rests in a cavern beneath the dimensional boundary, connected to the settlement through mystical bonds that allow it to sense threats and respond to summons. When called, the creature rises through the waters like a living earthquake, its passage creating waves that can swamp enemy vessels before it even arrives. The sight of its massive form breaching the surface has ended more than one potential invasion before a single blow was struck.

Its mere presence grants all defenders a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves against fear. Between summons, the leviathan's territorial presence reduces hostile sea creature encounters by 75% and increases fish yields by 20%.
