⚡ The One That Started It All

Briar's most famous creation. Born in Bannon. Perfected in Goodberry.
A long dark chocolate bar infused with Rainbow Pepper, a combination that every sensible confectioner in Bannon told her was a terrible idea. It begins exactly as you expect: rich, familiar, deeply chocolate. Then, halfway through, the Rainbow Pepper arrives. Not painfully. Warmly. Like a sudden laugh at the end of a quiet sentence. Briar says this is her personality in edible form. She is not wrong. The name is not metaphorical. People have actually yelped.

The Merchant's Blush

Named for a particularly flustered trader who couldn't maintain eye contact while ordering.
Three white chocolate rose truffles dusted in raspberry powder until they blush a deep, flattering pink. The filling is a soft strawberry and rose cream that gives way slowly when you press your tongue to it. Briar created these after a merchant in Bannon turned the exact same colour ordering from her counter and couldn't explain why. She found it charming enough to commemorate. He bought six boxes and never came back. She considers this a success.

The Copper Braid

Three interwoven strips of caramel, shaped by hand. Takes Briar twenty minutes per piece.
Three strands of toffee, dark caramel, honey caramel, and salted butter caramel, braided together while still warm and left to set into a single glossy plait. Each strand has its own distinct personality: one sweet, one salt-edged, one carrying a warmth that lingers. Named after Briar's own copper hair, which she usually has dusted with sugar and definitely does not braid as neatly as this. A wink at herself. She named it before anyone else could.

The Sugar Kiss

The first thing Briar ever made. The only one she's made the same way ever since.
A small heart-shaped hard candy, clear as glass and deep amber-red at the centre, made from nothing but sugar, citrus oil, and a whisper of cinnamon. Briar burned her right hand making her very first batch of hard candy. She calls the scar her "sugar kiss." The candy she's named after it is the simplest thing in the shop, and the only recipe she has never once changed, adjusted, or improved. Some things, she says, are already exactly right.

Boldest Dark Chocolate
Velvet Nightmare

An ink-black cocoa shell so dark it absorbs light, tempered to a perfect matte finish with no sheen whatsoever. Inside: a filling of midnight chocolate ganache spiked with black cardamom and dried rose, so dense it barely gives under pressure before yielding completely. The name came from a customer who said eating it felt "like falling asleep in something beautiful." Briar wrote it on the label the next morning. She considers it her most sophisticated piece and her most dramatic. Both descriptions are accurate.

Briar uses a minor enchantment to randomise the flavour after wrapping. Even she doesn't know.
Iridescent pulled taffy that shifts colour as it catches the light, pearl white, then soft lavender, then the faintest blush of green. The flavour is sealed by a minor enchantment after pulling, meaning each piece is a genuine surprise. Common results include: cloudberry, honey lemon, salted caramel, wild mint, and one reportedly transcendent "something like the first warm day of spring." Briar has no idea how that last one happened. She's trying to replicate it. She can't. She's delighted.

A recipe passed down from Briar and Storen's mother. One of the very few things she never changed.
Small amber-yellow hard candies, faceted to look like cut gemstones, made from a Sun Dwarf family recipe older than either Briar or Storen can remember. Warm honey, toasted barley, and a deep mineral sweetness that's hard to name, it tastes like something underground and ancient and completely good. Briar makes these exactly as her mother taught her: same pot, same temperature, same wooden mould. "Some recipes," she says, "aren't yours to improve."

The chocolate that started something Briar never expected.
A single, hand-finished dark chocolate truffle, made to an exact specification that Briar once described as "hope tempered by loss." The outer shell is bittersweet, nearly austere. The filling is a warm dark honey ganache that arrives slowly and stays. It was created as a custom order for a man who asked for something she had never been asked to make before: something that tasted like the strength to keep going. She made it. He came back. She named it after him. It is now the most expensive single piece in the shop. She will not discount it. Not even for Storen.

Added to the menu the week Solyn was born. Briar cried making the first batch. She denies this.
Two small white chocolate buttons, moulded in the shape of a tiny laughing face and dusted in edible pink lustre. The filling is a cloud-light strawberry and vanilla cream so gentle it barely registers as sweet, just warm and soft and exactly right. Named after Briar's daughter, Solyn, who arrived and immediately made everything more important. Sold in pairs only, because Briar says some things are always better when shared. She said it lightly. She meant it completely.

Storen's Kneading Stone

Briar's counter-offer to "Briar's Firecracker Muffins." She considers them even. She is wrong. She's winning.
A perfectly spherical dark chocolate truffle, large, unnervingly smooth, and completely unadorned. No glaze. No gold leaf. No decorative flourish of any kind. It looks precisely like something you might find at the bottom of a riverbed. It is named after Briar's brother Storen, who is similarly large, similarly unadorned, and similarly full of unexpected warmth when you get to the centre, where a molten sea salt caramel hides. Storen found out about the name three weeks after launch. He said it was a "terrible insult." He has since ordered a box every single week. Briar knows. She's never mentioned it. This will be the first he hears of it.
🥜 Linya's Corner
Linya Kesswick, artisan peanut butter maker, joined Candyland quietly and became essential without anyone quite noticing how. She works early mornings, before the shop opens, when the ovens are warm and no one is rushing. Her blends are made in small batches. The temperatures are exact. The results are extraordinary. Customers who find her work tend not to buy anyone else's.
Sold in small ceramic jars. All varieties available in smooth or chunky. Linya makes both. She has opinions about both. She will not share them unless you ask, and then she will share all of them.

A honey-infused peanut butter stirred slowly at low heat until the natural oils carry the wildflower honey deep into every part of the blend. Light, genuinely sweet, with a soft finish that lingers without heaviness. Linya made the first jar for Ilyra, who cannot or does not speak, but whose face when she tastes it is all the review anyone could need. When Linya describes developing this recipe, she speaks very quietly and doesn't quite finish the sentence. That's all right. The jar says the rest.

The Quiet Hour

Made before the shop opens, during the hour Linya likes most.
White chocolate folded into roasted peanut butter with a precise hand and a very specific patience, the white chocolate is added at exactly the temperature where it incorporates without seizing, creating a blend that is silky, pale gold, and somehow both rich and clean. Linya names it for the early mornings she has claimed as her own: quiet, predictable, hers. "Safe and predictable" is her highest compliment. For this jar, she means it as a description and a dedication both.

Linya's darkest and most confident blend. She did not name it lightly.
Dark-roasted peanuts taken right to the edge of the roast, further than most confectioners would dare, then ground with smoked sea salt and a careful measure of raw cacao nibs. The result is intense, almost savoury, with a deep bitter-sweet complexity that builds rather than fades. It is not for everyone. Linya knows this. She makes it anyway. She named it for a kind of weather she both fears and understands. It is the jar that surprises people most. Several have told her it is the best thing they have ever eaten. She thanks them carefully, turns back to her work, and tries to believe them.

The Sunrise Blend

Linya's first recipe that made her think: maybe I am actually good at this.
Roasted peanuts warmed with cinnamon, a single dried chilli, orange blossom honey, and a pinch of cardamom, an instinctive combination that Linya mixed one morning without quite planning to, and which tasted, against all reason, exactly right. Sweet and warm and brightening, like the first light through a window you weren't expecting to be safe enough to open. Briar tasted it and put it on the menu the same day. Linya asked if she was sure. Briar said: "I sell moments, Linya. This one tastes like a good one starting." Linya has not changed the recipe since.
Candyland is open from when Briar's first batch is ready until the last customer leaves, which in practice means the hours are unpredictable and the shop often smells incredible at strange times of night. Custom orders are welcome. Briar will ask you questions, give you her personal recommendation, name something after you if you give her a reason to, and send you home with a sample you didn't ask for. Life's already sweet enough. But a little extra sugar never hurt.
