Sahara Dustvein
Basic Information
Bloodline Ability
This Bloodline ability has not yet been unveiled to you.
Physical Description
Sahara has the lean, sun-hardened build of someone who has spent most of her twenty-nine years covering serious distance on foot, spotted tawny fur, sharp amber eyes, and a dark, wild mane she keeps mostly untamed. She dresses for heat and mobility rather than protection: minimal, well-worn leather harness and bracers worked with swirling metal patterns, and a wide belt from which dozens of small trinkets hang, chain links, coins worn smooth of any value, beads, broken clasps, carved bone, shards of old pottery. To a stranger it reads as jewelry. It isn't. It's a record.
Sahara has the gnoll habit of smiling widely when she's genuinely amused, which puts an impressive collection of teeth on full display and tends to make strangers quietly reconsider their next sentence. She is completely aware of the effect and does nothing whatsoever to soften it. Her sense of smell is extraordinary even by gnoll standards; she can pick up a trail days old, tell which individuals in a group were walking together, identify blood beneath other scents, and notice when someone has deliberately tried to hide their passage through an area. She pairs that with a genuine, hard-won eye for the signs of buried civilization: a broken pottery shard, an unnatural rise in the sand, three stones aligned too precisely to be an accident.
Personality & Temperament
- Laid-back and unshakeable out in the wild
- Razor-sharp senses and a genuine archaeological eye
- Confident without needing to prove it to anyone
- Genuinely funny once you're in on the joke
- Quietly reliable when it actually matters
- Almost no patience for people who ignore her warnings
- Will let a bad decision play out just to make the point
- Sarcastic to the point of being unhelpful sometimes
- Refuses to fight fair, as a matter of principle
- Keeps most people at arm's length out of habit
"Some lessons belong to the teacher." She'd told him not to step there. He asked why, then stepped there anyway. The floor collapses. "That one belonged to the floor."
"Six people. Two horses. One injured." She walks twenty feet away and brushes sand from a stone. "And they're walking along a road that's been buried for about eight hundred years."
These? Souvenirs. Every one of them is a place that tried to kill me and didn't quite manage it. I like to keep count.
