Bloodline Ability

Physical Description
Nisha is a lean, wiry devilkin whose dusky red-brown skin carries the faint warmth of banked coals, most noticeable along the ridges of her two small, backswept horns, which she keeps wrapped in thin bands of hammered copper wire so they don't catch on her work apron. Her dark hair is shaved close on one side and left long on the other, perpetually pushed back with an ink-stained kerchief. She is, unsurprisingly, the most thoroughly decorated person in any room she enters: both arms are sleeved shoulder to wrist in dense, overlapping linework that reads as a kind of visual autobiography, new pieces worked in over old ones, nothing symmetrical, everything intentional. Her ears carry no fewer than eleven piercings in graduated sizes, her septum holds a thin curved bar of blackened steel, and a small stud glints just beneath her lower lip. She dresses practically: a heavy leather apron over simple linen, sleeves rolled to the elbow, a loupe pushed up on her forehead more often than not.
Nisha's slender, barbed tail is in near-constant motion while she works, looping through the strap of her tool satchel to keep a second or third instrument within reach without breaking her concentration on the piece in front of her. Her eyes, a deep amber that brightens to a faint inner glow when she's fully absorbed in a session, rarely leave the skin under her needle. Regular clients and fellow artists swear that the oldest tattoos on her own arms shift, very faintly, when she's deep in concentration, a curling smoke-wisp design seeming to drift a half-inch before settling back into place. Nisha insists this is "just the lamplight" and changes the subject immediately, which is, notably, the only subject she will not discuss at length.

Sit still, breathe through it, and don't tell me halfway through that you "changed your mind about the wording." This is forever. Decide first.
People look at my arms and think I'm advertising. I'm not. Every piece on me is something I needed to say and couldn't, so I said it the only way that sticks.
Devilkin, they say, can't be trusted with a blade near your skin. Funny, that's exactly the work everyone keeps paying me to do.
