Marilyn Masters
Basic Information
Bloodline Ability
This Bloodline ability has not yet been unveiled to you.
Physical Description
Marilyn is 5'5" and sun-browned in the honest, uneven way of someone who has spent her whole life outdoors rather than posing for it, dark hair braided back out of habit rather than fashion, a basket rarely far from her hand. Her clothes are plain, practical, and a little worn at the hem, the kind of dress meant to survive a full day of garden work rather than admiration, though there's a warmth in her face that draws people in anyway, an easy, unguarded prettiness she's never once tried to cultivate. She looks, and is, exactly what she appears to be: an unassuming woman who is good with growing things.
Marilyn cannot walk past a struggling plant, a thin chicken, or a neighbor's wilting window box without stopping to fuss over it, usually uninvited, and she has already, in one month, adopted three stray cats she insists are just "visiting." She talks to her garden the way other people talk to pets, and has a habit of thanking her hens individually when she collects eggs, entirely without self-consciousness. She has not yet noticed how unusually well any of it has been going.
Personality & Temperament
- Warm and unguarded with total strangers
- Genuinely tireless when something needs tending
- Quick to share whatever she's grown or raised
- Stubborn about finishing what she's started
- Finds real joy in small, ordinary abundance

- Downplays her own competence around new people
- Lonelier here than she'll ever admit out loud
- Slightly defensive about running the place alone
- Worries, quietly, that peace never actually lasts
Back home they said I'd never manage a place of my own. I didn't have the heart to tell them I hadn't decided that yet either.
Everything just seems to do well around here. I'd like to think that's me, but I expect it's just good soil.
I left one home because staying meant nothing was ever really mine. I'd like this one to be different.
- The first good harvest off new soil
- Neighbors who actually stop to talk
- A hen that's decided to trust her
- Rain on the roof of a house that's hers
- Being asked for gardening advice
- Being called "just" a farmer's daughter
- Letters from home that don't say enough
- Wasted, untended land of any kind
- Being pitied for living alone
- Talk of war reaching anywhere peaceful
