Physical Description

Lethariel Greenveil portrait
Lethariel Greenveil, Silmarithil

Lethariel Greenveil is easy to find in a forest and easy to miss in a city, which she considers the correct arrangement. Her dark hair falls in a long wave past her shoulders, vivid green streaks running through it that catch sunlight the way leaves catch sunlight, they do not look dyed because they are not dyed. A triangular druidic rune marks her forehead in the same green, her personal sigil, which she drew on herself during her final year of training and has maintained since. Her eyes are a steady hazel-green that seems to pull toward the green end when she is in forest light. Her skin carries the warmth of a life spent largely outdoors.

She dresses in forest-green wrappings and woven cloth with gold accents, practical rather than decorative, though the line between the two in druidic tradition is thinner than most people assume. Her arms are stacked with banded bracelets, and her upper arm carries a nature tattoo she received from her masters in Greenbrook: a lotus pattern in the same forest green that traces the lines of a specific tree she spent an entire winter tending. She carries a small carving tool in a worn leather wrap at her hip, not a weapon, the tip is designed specifically for rune-work on bark, shaped to leave the smooth curves her Growth Runes require. When she is working, she kneels close to the tree and speaks to it in a low voice before she begins. People who have watched this report that the tree's bark seems to lean slightly toward her hands.

She is at rest most visibly when she is asleep, which she is notably good at: long, deep, and completely untroubled. She sleeps the way old trees are still, thoroughly and without apology. When she swims she is equally unhurried, moving through water with the patience of someone who has no particular destination. These are not things she does to recover from other things. They are, she would tell you, their own complete activities.

Background & History

Greenbrook
She was born and raised in Greenbrook, the city that takes druidism seriously in a way that most cities take commerce or politics seriously: as a foundational thing, as infrastructure, as the organizing principle around which everything else is built. Growing up there meant growing up surrounded by practitioners who ranged from the locally competent to the genuinely extraordinary. She saw what the tradition could produce at its highest levels. She also understood, earlier than most children think about such things, that she wanted to learn it properly and she was willing to do the work that properly required.

The Training
Greenbrook's druidic masters do not take students because students ask. They take them because they have watched and decided. Lethariel was taken at fourteen by a master whose name she carries with the kind of specific reverence that belongs to a real debt, someone who did not teach her to love trees, she already loved them, but who taught her to hear them precisely, to read the difference between a tree's hesitation and a tree's refusal, to understand what the Growth Rune required at a level below technique: patience, attention, and a quality of genuine regard that cannot be faked and that the tree will know about immediately if you try. She spent years in the forest around Greenbrook before she was permitted to carve a single rune. When she finally was, the first tree she worked with grew six inches in a week. Her master called this adequate. She was very pleased.

The Growth Rune
It is her signature work, the thing she has refined past anything she was directly taught into something that is genuinely hers. A spiral carved into living bark during a specific moon phase, with the tree's consent given through a particular quality of bark-warmth she can feel under her palms. When the rune takes, and it always takes, because she does not begin unless she has the consent, the tree's growth rate doubles and its eventual size increases proportionally. The rune is permanent and self-sustaining, requiring no maintenance once set. She has carved seventeen trees in her life. The oldest among them, back in Greenbrook's outer grove, now stands at twice the height it would have reached without her. She visited it before she left and spent an afternoon sitting with it. She did not bring her tools.

Silmarithil
Her masters encouraged her to go. Greenbrook does not hoard its druids; it trains them and releases them, because the world outside Greenbrook also has trees and the trees outside Greenbrook also deserve attention. She chose Silmarithil because of what she had read and heard: an elven city where the forest is not outside the walls but woven through them, where people understand that trees are not scenery. She arrived this week and has already begun walking the forest paths, introducing herself to the older trees first as a courtesy. She has found two who seem interested in her rune-work and is in the early stages of what she calls the conversation, the unhurried period of attunement before any carving is proposed. She is not in a hurry. Neither are the trees.

Goals & Aspirations

The Grove
She would like, over time, to create a grove within or adjacent to Silmarithil where every tree has been rune-blessed, a forest that grows at twice its natural rate and reaches twice its natural height, a living demonstration of what the tradition can produce when given time. This is a project measured in years, not weeks. She is not impatient about it. The trees will be ready when they are ready, and she will know, and the grove will grow. What she wants is to be here for it, for long enough to see the first rune-trees reach a height that could not have happened without her. She thinks this will take around four years, assuming the trees are cooperative, which she believes they will be.

Learning the Forest
Every forest has its own character. Greenbrook's was ancient and settled, the trees there had been in conversation with druids for generations and they knew the language. Silmarithil's forest is older still, and it does not know her yet. She is introducing herself the same way she would introduce herself to a person: slowly, with attention, without assumption. She finds this genuinely interesting rather than a barrier. There are things about this forest she has never encountered in Greenbrook, specific ages, specific kinds of old memory in the root system, specific ways that the canopy holds light. She is here as much to learn as to teach, which she considers the correct proportion for someone who has been doing this for as long as she has.

Rest
She would also like to sleep well, which Silmarithil's forest has already demonstrated it can provide. Her first night here she slept under an old oak and woke with the specific quality of rest that she associates with places where the ground approves of you. She intends to find the best swimming in the area within the month. She is not treating these as rewards to be earned after the important work is done. She is treating them as the work itself, equally valid, equally essential, the part of a druid's life that sustains the other parts. Her masters were clear about this. The forest that does not rest does not grow. She is, in her own mind, simply following the principle.

ATTENTION!
Lethariel Greenveil is E-Grade and carries no combat specialization. Her Growth Rune is her signature ability and it is real: trees she blesses genuinely grow at double the natural rate and reach double their natural final size. The consent mechanic is functional, she cannot carve a rune on a tree that has not expressed willingness through the bark-warmth attunement she has developed. A tree that rejects her will not take the rune and she will not attempt it again. She is friendly and non-threatening in almost every context. The exception is any direct harm to living plants or animals in her immediate presence, which she will address verbally first and escalate from there with whatever means the forest provides her. She is not dangerous in a conventional combat sense but she should not be underestimated in her own environment. She is formally trained by the Greenbrook order and has a full druidic repertoire of nature-based abilities beyond the rune-work. She has been in Silmarithil less than a week but is already in preliminary attunement conversation with two old-growth trees. The forest is already responding to her presence.
