Physical Description

Braxxa Bloodash
Braxxa Bloodash, Little Mountain
Appearance

Braxxa is a solid, round-faced orc toddler with dark green skin and a head of thick, wild dark curls that defeat any attempt at organization. Her grey-blue eyes are wide and watchful and communicate her emotional state with considerable precision, cycling between intense curiosity, focused determination, and the particular expression of someone who has just decided that you are not understanding her and that this is your problem. She has the beginning of an orc's sturdy build, already noticeably dense and planted for her age, and she sits and moves with a groundedness that suggests "Little Mountain" is an accurate assessment rather than merely an affectionate one.

She is dressed in miniature warrior kit that Kel assembled with the same seriousness she brings to her own gear: a small leather vest with skull-and-stud detailing, a spiked pauldron on one shoulder, fur-trimmed belt with tooth decorations, and a bone skull pendant at her chest. Three horizontal war-paint stripes run across her forehead and upper face in dark green, applied with care. She wears the whole ensemble with an air of complete comfort, as though this is simply what people wear.

Unique Characteristics

The war-paint stripes are applied fresh each morning by Kel with a seriousness that Braxxa sits still for without complaint, which is notable because she sits still for almost nothing else. She holds her arms slightly away from her body when sitting, the way her mother does in warrior posture, which on Kel reads as readiness and on Braxxa reads as a toddler taking up the appropriate amount of space. Her grip strength for her age is remarkable; Gorek has noted this with the quiet satisfaction of a father filing information. She communicates through expression, volume, and directed pointing with the complete confidence of someone who finds it genuinely baffling that the translation is so difficult.

[Sustained and pointed staring at something she wants, with intermittent sharp vocalizations to confirm that the staring has been noticed and should be acted upon]

"DAH." [said about many things, with inflection doing most of the semantic work; context is essential]

[Sits beside Kel during warrior posture practice, arms positioned identically, expression identical, completely and sincerely doing the thing]

Background & History

Born to Warriors
Braxxa Bloodash was born on Goldenleaf 13, 1304, to Kel Mossbrew and Gorek Bloodash. She arrived with what Kel described in her notes as "appropriate volume and appropriate stubbornness," which are the orc cultural equivalents of good health indicators. The nickname Little Mountain was Gorek's and it stuck immediately, because it was accurate. She has been planted and certain and difficult to move from her position since her earliest weeks, and two years have not changed this.

Kel's Daughter
Braxxa has identified Kel as the primary reference for how to be in the world, and she is implementing this with thoroughness. She watches how Kel stands, how Kel carries herself, how Kel assesses situations with a warrior's quiet attention before acting. She replicates what she can. The war-paint is the most visible expression of this but not the deepest one. The deepest one is the posture: arms slightly out, weight centered, present in a room in the specific way that Kel is present in a room, which is to say fully and with an awareness of all of it. Braxxa is two years old and already doing this. Kel, who was not expecting to be this moved by anything, is moved.

The Communication Situation
Braxxa's vocabulary is developing at a normal rate for her age, which means it is not yet equal to the complexity and specificity of what she wants to communicate. This is a source of daily frustration that she handles with the patience available to someone who does not yet have much patience: she points, she vocalizes, she escalates both, and when neither of those works she occasionally just does the thing herself, which has led to several household incidents that Gorek categorises as "impressive" and Kel categorises as "understandable." The people who spend the most time with her have developed a reasonable interpretive accuracy. Visitors start at a disadvantage and catch up through experience.

Goals

To Be Understood
This is the primary goal and it is felt urgently. Braxxa knows what she wants with considerable clarity and she communicates it with everything available to her, and the gap between the clarity of the intention and the murkiness of the reception is a consistent daily experience that she is working through by developing more words, more volume, and more directed pointing. Progress is being made. The household agrees she is getting more precise. She is not satisfied with the current rate.

To Be Where Kel Is
Braxxa's spatial relationship to Kel is her default comfort state and also her preferred operating location. She is not clingy in the anxious sense; she does not distress when Kel leaves her field of view. She simply prefers to be adjacent and makes this preference known with the confidence of someone who considers it a reasonable and achievable position. When Kel does her morning warrior practice, Braxxa participates. When Kel sits and takes notes about civilian life, Braxxa sits nearby and is also present, doing something that roughly approximates what Kel is doing. This is her learning, in the way that Kel herself is still learning.

To Grow Into the Kit
Braxxa wears her warrior gear with the settled comfort of someone who considers it simply correct clothing for a person like herself, which she does. She is not performing. She is not playing. She is wearing what she wears. The skull pendant is hers. The pauldron is hers. They fit. One day they will be smaller proportionally, and there will be more of them, and she will have earned the right to wear them in the way that Kel has earned hers. This is not a thought she has consciously. It is simply the direction she is already facing.

ATTENTION!
Braxxa is two years old, wearing war-paint applied fresh every morning, has a skull pendant and a spiked pauldron, and is the daughter of Kel Mossbrew and Gorek Bloodash. She is not dangerous. She is, however, determined, physically capable beyond the average for her age, and frustrated by a vocabulary that has not yet caught up with her intentions. Those who misread her as merely decorative are working from incomplete information. She is Little Mountain. She already knows it. The rest of the world is still catching up.
