Bloodline Ability

-- Unknown ---
This Bloodline ability has not yet been unveiled to you.

Physical Description

Appearance
Balar stands tall and proud with the distinctive blue scales of his draconian heritage, each scale seeming to shimmer with barely contained electrical energy. His bright yellow eyes practically crackle with enthusiasm and unwavering devotion. His muscular frame bears numerous scars from countless battles, each one worn like a badge of honor. His blue scales are particularly vibrant along his neck and arms, and he keeps his appearance meticulously maintained to present himself as a worthy herald of Karthos.

Unique Characteristics
Lightning-shaped brand scars run up both of his arms, self-inflicted marks of devotion to the Thunder's power. When he becomes particularly excited or angry, small arcs of electricity dance between his claws and his scales glow more intensely. He wears a crude but lovingly crafted lightning bolt pendant around his neck, hammered from blue-tinted metal by his own hands as a symbol of his faith in Karthos' divine nature.

You think we're lesser because we're weaker or not as clever as the great ones? Let me tell you something... when the Thunderous Redeemer calls, it doesn't matter how big your scales are! What matters is how big your heart is, how loud your roar echoes! We may be the small lightning, but together we make the storm!

I was never meant to be clever. I was meant to be loud enough for the forgotten to hear hope.

If I fall first, then let my brothers strike harder.

Background & History

Early Life in the Blue Legion
Born into the ranks of the Chromatic Council's Blue Dragon Legion, Balar spent his youth as a simple foot soldier under the command of Casey Ulmanis. Like many of the other draconians, he was relegated to menial tasks and treated as simple muscle. Casey's leadership style was cold and calculating; she viewed the draconians as tools to be used when convenient. Balar's unit was frequently sent on the most dangerous assignments, expected to succeed through sheer numbers rather than skill or strategy.

The Spark of Doubt
Years of watching his comrades die in pointless battles while Casey and her inner circle claimed the glory began to wear on Balar's spirit. He witnessed the casual cruelty with which the Legion's leaders treated their subordinates, the way they would sacrifice entire squads for minor tactical advantages. Despite his limited intellect, Balar possessed an instinctive understanding of honor and loyalty, values that seemed absent from the Legion's leadership. The breaking point came when Casey ordered his squad to massacre a village of non-combatants as an "example" to nearby settlements.

The Divine Revelation
Everything changed the day Balar first witnessed Karthos in battle. It was during a skirmish at Stoneharbor when the blue draconian Holy Fury appeared like a living storm, wielding both lightning and divine light in equal measure. But what truly struck Balar wasn't Karthos' power... it was his mercy. After defeating Casey's advance scout unit, Karthos healed the wounded and allowed the survivors to retreat with honor. For the first time in his life, Balar saw a draconian leader who embodied both strength and righteousness. That night, alone in his tent, Balar experienced what he would later describe as a divine vision. Lightning filled his mind, but instead of bringing pain, it brought clarity. He saw Karthos not just as a warrior, but as the Thunderous Redeemer incarnate, a divine figure destined to show all draconians that they could be more than mere conquerors. The vision showed him glimpses of a future where even the smallest and weakest of their kind could stand proudly, redeemed through service to a greater purpose.

The Great Defection
Organizing a defection from the Blue Legion required more cunning than Balar typically possessed, but his burning faith gave him focus he'd never had before. Over several months, he quietly approached other draconians who showed signs of discontent... the overlooked, the mistreated, those who had lost friends to Casey's callous commands. His simple but passionate speeches about redemption and true honor resonated with soldiers who had long felt disposable. The defection itself was chaotic and bloody. When Casey discovered the planned desertion, she ordered the immediate execution of all suspected conspirators. Balar led nearly two dozen draconians in a desperate fighting retreat from the Legion's stronghold, losing several good soldiers in the process. The survivors who made it out alive were forever bonded by shared sacrifice and a common purpose: to prove that they were worthy of the Thunderous Redeemer's notice.

Birth of the Lightning's Vanguard
In the months following their escape, Balar's small band of refugees transformed into something greater. They called themselves the Lightning's Vanguard, positioning themselves as the herald forces of Karthos' divine mission. Under Balar's enthusiastic leadership, they developed their unique combination of military action and evangelical fervor. They would arrive in towns just ahead of major conflicts, staging dramatic demonstrations of lightning-based abilities and sharing tales of Karthos' divine nature. What started as desperate survivors seeking purpose evolved into a genuine religious and military movement. Each new settlement they visited seemed to add more believers to their cause, not all of them draconians. Balar's simple but heartfelt conviction that even the "lesser" beings could achieve greatness through service to the Thunderous Redeemer struck a chord with many who felt overlooked or undervalued by society.

Goals

Primary Mission
Balar's overarching goal is to prove that even the smallest and weakest draconians can achieve greatness when serving a righteous cause. Every battle won, every demonstration performed, and every new convert to their cause serves as evidence that the "lesser" beings of the world have value and potential that traditional hierarchies ignore. He sees his success as vindication not just for himself, but for all the overlooked and underestimated.

Divine Service
Beyond personal validation, Balar genuinely believes he is serving as an instrument of divine will. He views spreading knowledge of Karthos' divine nature as a sacred duty, one that will ultimately lead to a better world where strength serves justice rather than oppression. His willingness to sacrifice himself for this cause is absolute; he would gladly die if it meant advancing Karthos' mission or protecting his fellow Vanguard members.

Personal Growth
Though he rarely admits it, Balar harbors a deep desire to become worthy of standing beside Karthos as more than just a herald. He pushes himself constantly to overcome his intellectual limitations, studying battle tactics and religious texts with the same fervor he brings to combat. While he may never become a great strategist or theologian, his dedication to self-improvement serves as another example to his followers of how devotion can transcend natural limitations.
