Canopy Council Chamber

Canopy Council Chamber

Prerequisite: Duke's Hollow Tree
An upgrade for the dimensional expansion.

Description

The Canopy Council Chamber is an elevated meeting hall grown into the highest branches of three ancient oaks, nearly sixty feet above the forest floor. Its location symbolizes clarity and responsibility, giving leaders a peaceful vantage point over the entire grove. Visitors reach the chamber by climbing a spiral staircase formed from branches shaped to grow in a perfect ascent, with a living vine serving as the handrail and soft lanterns lighting the climb.

At the top, the chamber rests where the three great branches meet, reinforced and shaped by subtle magic. The floor is a living lattice of woven branches that have thickened and fused over time, forming a stable platform. Around the edge, young trees and dense bushes have been trained into an eight foot tall natural wall that offers privacy while letting air and sunlight filter through, creating a sheltered but open space.

The center of the chamber holds a round table grown from a thick horizontal limb, polished smooth and arranged so every seat holds equal importance. Chairs are formed from shaped branches and fitted with soft cushions to allow long meetings in comfort. Every seat is unique, reflecting natural growth patterns, yet all are positioned perfectly around the table. Above, the sky serves as the roof, with trained leaves guiding gentle rain away from the platform and a canvas canopy ready for harsher weather.

Soft natural lighting fills the space through the canopy. Lanterns of bioluminescent moss hang from branches for evening meetings, and the living walls absorb sound to keep discussions private. Shelves grown from the walls hold scrolls and records, while a secured cabinet carved into one of the main trunks stores sensitive documents. The chamber’s acoustics allow quiet speech to be heard clearly without carrying beyond the platform.

The view from the chamber stretches across the entire grove, from distant streams to the colorful trees of Autumn’s Edge. Birds and small animals often wander through, reinforcing the connection between leadership and the natural world. Though used mainly for official business, the Duke sometimes allows private audiences here, making the chamber not only a seat of governance but a symbol of harmony between rule and nature.
