Enchanted Apiary II

Enchanted Apiary II

Prerequisite: None
An upgrade for the dimensional expansion.

Description

Building upon the successful foundation of the initial enchanted hives, the second phase of the Enchanted Apiary adds ten additional living willow structures, doubling the colony network throughout the grove. However, unlike the first phase where all production focuses on raw healing honey for direct consumption or sale, these new hives are dedicated entirely to supplying honey for specialized potion production. The expansion includes the construction of an alchemical workshop adjacent to the main apiary, a structure of polished wood and glass where honey processors work in carefully controlled conditions to transform raw healing honey into concentrated restorative potions.

The potion-making process represents a marriage of natural healing magic and alchemical science. Fresh healing honey is collected at peak potency, always under moonlight when its magical properties are most concentrated. The honey is then combined with distilled spring water from the Crystal Streams, essence of vitality vines, and powdered moonflower petals in precise ratios that have been perfected through years of experimentation. The mixture is heated gently over enchanted flames that maintain exact temperatures, then stirred in a specific pattern while prayers to nature deities are recited. During this process, the honey's inherent magical properties intensify and stabilize, creating a potion that provides significantly more healing power than the raw honey alone.

The resulting potions are bottled in specially crafted crystal vials that preserve the enhanced magical energies indefinitely. Each vial glows with a warm golden light visible even through opaque containers, and when uncorked, releases a sweet fragrance that brings immediate feelings of comfort and wellbeing to anyone nearby. The concentrated nature of these potions means they occupy far less space than equivalent amounts of raw honey, making them ideal for adventurers, military units, and anyone who needs portable healing. The alchemical process also introduces an element of remarkable potency—approximately one in five potions undergoes a spontaneous magical enhancement during bottling, its healing energies achieving perfect crystalline alignment that maximizes its restorative capabilities.

The expansion requires additional trained personnel who understand both beekeeping and alchemy. Two more Druid-Trained Hive Tenders join the team to manage the doubled colony count, while specialized Potion Crafters work in the alchemical workshop. These crafters undergo extensive training in both druidic healing traditions and formal alchemical methods, learning to recognize the subtle signs that indicate optimal honey quality and proper potion maturation. Quality control is paramount—each batch is tested by the Master Enchanted Beekeeper before being sealed and labeled with detailed information about its creation date, source hives, and potency rating.

The workshop itself becomes a place of quiet wonder, where rows of glowing vials await distribution and the air shimmers with barely visible magical energies. Temperature-controlled storage rooms maintain perfect conditions for aging certain special batches, while sterilization chambers ensure no contamination affects the pure healing properties. The additional pollination from the expanded bee colonies creates noticeable improvements in all food production throughout the grove, as the enchanted bees' enhanced intelligence allows them to pollinate more efficiently than their mundane cousins. The settlement's reputation for producing exceptional healing potions begins to spread throughout the region, attracting those who can afford premium healing solutions and establishing the Enchanted Apiary as a center of restorative alchemy.

Benefits

The Enchanted Apiary II produces specialized healing potions that generate an additional 500 gold per month in income. These concentrated potions restore 2d8+4 hit points when consumed, and approximately 20% of all potions produced have a chance to maximize their healing (treating all dice as showing their maximum value before rolling). A creature can only benefit from these potions once per 24 hours. These expanded apiaries generate 6 Prestige.
